age: 22
canon point: Chapter 14 - Prior to Jenova Lifeclinger
history:
🌺 Remake - (Character Specific)
🌺 Crisis Core: Reunion / Remake / Integrade / Rebirth - (General Lore / Story)
🌺 Rebirth - (General Lore / Story)

abilities:
(Many of these may not necessarily apply to Etraya specifically, but I am happy to provide them for reference.)

🌺 She can commune with the life force of the planet she's from. This means she can sense the loss of life and may be able, within reason, to communicate with them. She has other mysterious abilities as an Ancient, though Remake / Rebirth continuity is still exploring this and not all of this is exactly fully detailed or known. As we learn more, I will address this and update. I don't expect or intend to use any of these abilities save perhaps for points of potential conversation.
🌺 In the original game, she was also capable of using the spell, Holy, which is the most powerful white magic spell that exists in that world, capable of cleansing the planet of threats. This hasn't been used yet in Remake / Rebirth continuity. The materia that she normally wears in her hair is for that spell, but she claims it's not good for anything. (This materia is not coming with her to Etraya as a result of her canon point.)
🌺 She is primarily a magistrix with elemental magic, though she is capable of wielding a staff. She is not well-versed in close-quarters-combat. In tandem with destructive elemental magic, she is capable of creating protective barriers. As this magic tends to be used by way of materia equipment, it is likely she may not have access to those upon arrival. Her barriers appear to be tied to her weapon, which she will also not be arriving with.
🌺 Her limit breaks are defensive and restorative in nature, allowing her to create invulnerability barriers and to heal others around her.

personality:
Aerith is often underestimated and perceived as a sheltered, delicate, or fragile young woman. Although she is willing to wear this facade especially under the guise of protecting herself or allowing others to not regard her with suspicion, Aerith is actually quite street savvy, very good with people, and rather cunning and clever.

Her unique background as the last [known] of her kind has put her under careful scrutiny by the Turks association and Shinra Electric Company, leading her to be defensive of her person and her home. Her life in the slums has forced her to grow up with very little, developing an appreciation for everything that she does have. She's watched her peers suffer for years, and this, among her other experiences and connection to the concept of life, has made her a deeply empathetic person. She feels very intensely about wanting proper livelihoods for not only humanity in general, but for the planet itself. As such, she's very quick to help others who are in need, most oft unconditionally.

She has a good intuition when it comes to appealing to others and making a good impression. Where some may be difficult to interact with, she has the patience to face that, and oft, befriend it regardless. Her tolerance and understanding, however, should not be mistaken for unassertive demeanour. Although she has good intentions and wants positive things for those around her, she's not a submissive or yielding personality.

When Tifa is headed to Don Corneo's as a candidate to be one of his brides, Aerith is the one who instigates the excursion to rescue her. She has a heart for adventure, which she repeatedly demonstrates (Wall Market's visitation, the underground coliseum, the Honeybee Manor, travelling outside of Midgar, and so on). In addition, she has other shining moments where she is able to display courage in the face of adversity. It is probable that she portrays this to help those around her embody similar sentiment.

She is oft selfless and self-sacrificing. She cares about her friends and loved ones deeply, a result of circumstances cutting her off from forming extensive relationships with others. In the train graveyard, we learn that she had friends as a child, however, her Cetra abilities warded these friends off out of fear. As a result, Aerith has spent a decent amount of her life alone. Aerith appears to be observant, thoughtful, and a good judge of character, allowing her to establish bonds sometimes quickly with others. Aerith is also inclined to take matters into her own hands where she feels she's doing the right and proper thing, such as when she voluntarily surrenders herself to the Turks in order to protect Marlene.

Alhough a bit 'girl next door,' she's capable of protecting herself. At times, Aertith requests that Cloud do so, perhaps to allude to the idea that she 'needs' protecting. Whilst she shows herself to be open, she's quite secretive and good at making it appear as though she's more forthcoming than she truly is. This extends even to identifying herself as a Cetra, which she keeps largely to herself.

In the face of her mysterious circumstances, the Whispers, the seeming multiple continuities of time, Aerith is no stranger to humour, utilising it as a self-defence mechanism. Unafraid to poke fun at others, she understands the value in levity as much as she does empathy. Possessing a great deal of courage, hope, and determination, Aerith represents a symbol of resilience and strength for others as well as herself.
